Chronicles of Templaria: Development Empty
PostSubject: Chronicles of Templaria: Development   Chronicles of Templaria: Development Icon_minitimeMon Apr 12, 2010 11:35 pm

Not sure where this thread belongs, but I'm going to dump everything thus far into here.

The Story Thus Far:

Millennia ago, there was "Templaria." A mysterious and powerful book destined to bring wrought and ruin upon the world. For generations, the evil book Templaria sent forth its spawn, the Cantos, beings of ink, to cleanse the world of life, and claim it as its own. The Elders, great, wise effigies, eventually found the sinister book, and, after a long, grueling battle, managed to seal away the dark book's power and hide it in their mystical archives, to never be found by a human. Or so they thought...

Millions of years later, an ancient tomb, labeled the "Library," was discovered by mankind. All hell breaks loose. Templaria's power, now reawakened, unleashes great destruction upon the new world. The portal to Dusk, the fabled world of the Cantos, Temparia's minions and spawn, had been ripped open, dark figures inundating the world. But as quickly as it happened, the portal closes itself. The Shades, due to their nature, quickly crush all resistance and the world's governments and military are obliterated with ease. However, the appearance of the Cantos has awakened a power in humans previously untapped: magic. Using this new-found power, several heroes of mankind ultimately destroy the Cantos and banish them back to the void of Dusk. These heroes, now dubbed the Union, proceed to conquer the new world. Several years later, this magical power is still active in humans, and there are words of the ancient portal being re-opened once again...

Physical Damage Formula

[A(B)4+C]-[D(E)3]+/-A](F)(I)

H

A = Attacking character's Lvl
B = Attacking character's STR
C = Additional base damage (if using a skill)
D = Defending character's Lvl
E = Defending character's DEF
F = If the attack is a critical hit, F = 2 (If not, F = 1)
H = If the attack is weak (for some reason), H = 2 (If not, H = 1)
I = Additional percentage damage (if using a skill)

Magical Damage Formula

[A x (1~1.5) x B] - (C x D)

A = User's Level
B = Power of spell
C = Defender's Level
D = Defender's MDEF

Evasiveness Formula (preliminary)

If attacking character's SPD is higher than defending character's SPD = 100% chance of hitting

If attacking character's SPD is equal to defending character's SPD = 100% chance of hitting

If attacking character's SPD is lower than defending character's SPD, the following formula is used:

(A/B)100 = X

X = percentage of hitting

Critical Hit Formula (preliminary)

[A+(2B)+(3C)+(5D)] = F

A = High critical hit ratio of attack (certain attacks critical hit more often)
If applicable, A = 1
If not, A = 0

B = Item bonus (certain items grant an extra chance of critical hit)
If applicable, B = 1
If not, B = 0

C = Inherent value (some characters have extra chance of critical hits)
If applicable, C = 1
If not, C = 0

D = Focused (A certain skill will heighten critical hit ratio)
If applicable, D = 1
If not, D = 0

If F = 0, critical hit ratio is 1%
If F = 1, critical hit ratio is 5%
If F = 2, critical hit ratio is 5%
If F = 3, critical hit ratio is 7%
If F = 4, critical hit ratio is 7%
If F = 5, critical hit ratio is 10%
If F = 6, critical hit ratio is 20%
If F = 7, critical hit ratio is 25%
If F = 8, critical hit ratio is 30%
If F = 10, critical hit ratio is 35%
If F = 11, critical hit ratio is 70%

Flee Formula

(coming soon!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stats:
STR/ATK = Determines (physical) damage
DEF = Determines the character's endurance against physical attacks
MDEF: Determies the character's endurance against magical attacks
SPD = Determines evasiveness and turn order
SP: A value between 0% and 100%. Certain items can boost or restore this value, and using skills depletes SP
How the Game Works
The maximum level the protagonist can achieve is level 50.
The game takes place over the course of three weeks. After a certain level is reached, and the final boss for that week defeated, the protagonist may call it a day and retire to the next week. If he does not, the protagonist may choose to remain that certain week, but he cannot level up until it is the next week.
Week 1:
Levels 5-20
Final Boss: Matris Graphica (lv. 20)
Teammates Encountered: Dominic, Kaida
Week 2:
Levels 21-35
Ignus (lvl. 35)
Teammates Encountered: Tina, Miro, (???)
Week 3:
Levels 36-50
Final Boss: Sigefried (lv. 50)
Teammates Encountered: None
Will elaborate later.
Easy Mode:
It's easier to level up.
Enemies are decreased by 1 Level.
(makes the game a ton easier)
Normal Mode:
Normal EXP chart used.
Enemies at normal level.
(a normal challenge)
Hard Mode:
Much harder to level up.
Enemies are increased by 2 Levels.
(believe it or not, this makes almost every battle a total struggle... bosses are borderline impossible)
Chronicles of Templaria: Development Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chronicles of Templaria: Development   Chronicles of Templaria: Development Icon_minitimeWed Apr 21, 2010 10:28 pm
On the first floor of the basement of Templar High exists the entrance to the school's library. Or what could be called a library. There is no source of light whatsoever, making the place seem more akin to a dungeon, and there is an obvious lack of sexy librarians (or librarians at all, for that matter). After school and during the breaks, tons of Students flock to the library's entrance waging petty battles, settling gruesome grudges, making out, and the whatnot. However, not many people actually go into the school's underground library, thanks to a horrific myth.
Apparently, no soul that has ventured inside the library has ever returned. Urban legends tell that the school has forgotten about the poor souls who have been lost in the sprawling dungeon of the library. Proponents of this myth tell that this myth explains the relative lack of any kind of restriction of entrance into the library. Despite this myth, some brave Students are forced to go into the library to find some obscure book for an assignment, or simply test their mettle on the mysterious creatures fabled to live there. However, those who call themselves Acolytes regularly make their rounds in the underground library. Nobody knows exactly what the Acolytes do in there, but their lack of injury makes them somewhat of suspects among school society.
According to ancient schematics, the underground library has four floors: the entrance, the first floor, second floor, and the final basement. Brave Students have gone into the first floor and returned, but nobody has ever ventured into the second and third floors and come back.
TL;DR
Entrance/first floor = Week 1
(thugs, students, inkpots/blots and random crap live here)
Second Floor = Week 2
(crazies, berserkers, maldeformed arc live here)
Third Floor = Week 3
(sige/Corona lurks here regularly, and Templaria is here)
Basic
(These effects are erased at end of battle. An effect of opposite polarity will override the previous effect and apply its effect:
Ex. Player has - Attack, but is buffed with + Attack. - Attack disappears and is replaced with + Attack.)
(These effects only last for 3 turns.)
- Attack: All damage output is reduced by 50%
- Defense: DEF is lowered by 25% total DEF
- Speed: SPD is decreased by 50% total SPD
+ Attack: Damage output is increased by 50%
+ Defense: DEF is increased by 25% total DEF
+ Speed: SPD is increased by 50% total SPD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Uncommon

(These effects last until they are cured)

Enervated: ATK/STR is reduced by 50%

Poison: At start of the character's turn, said character loses 10% of his/her/its total HP

Burn: At the start of the character's turn, said character loses 5% of his/her/its total HP, damage output is decreased by 10%

Focused: Critical hit ratio increases

Distracted: Critical hit chance becomes 0%

Muted: Affected character cannot use any skills

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unique
(These effects literally have no classification)
Stunned: Lasts for one turn. Affected character can make no actions (main character may still select "Talk" or "Flee")
Blocking: DEF is increased by 200%. This status is lost at end of enemy's turn and whenever the character receives an attack. Affected character is unable to counter-attack
Immune: Unaffected by negative status for 4 turns
Counter-Attacking
If a physical attack is unable to inflict any damage (the damage formula results in a negative number), the defending target will instantly retaliate with a normal attack of its own. This is considered a counter-attack. If a counter-attack fails to inflict any damage, the defending target cannot counter-attack (a counter-attack cannot be counter-attacked).
Characters:
The Protagonist:
"It's people like you that make the world even worse..."
A quiet, introverted adolescent recently transferred to the infamous Templar High. Not many details are known about his past, but at least he's not an orphan. His mom died during his birth, and his father, mad with grief, abused, berated, and tortured him regularly. Eventually, he was able to escape, and found Templar High as a place of refuge. One of the few individuals aligned with the Axiom Affinity. This aspect makes him a center of attention in some places and a pariah in others. However, his alignment with the Affinity enables him to use powerful and mysterious magic... in the future.
Base Stats:
(Normal)
HP: 200
ATK: 8
DEF: 10
MDEF: 10
SPD: 10
Serra Novelia
"You know, I think a tea break is in order!"
A calm, perky individual that also attends Templar High with the Protagonist. Raised among two, neglecting parents that only barely managed to keep her alive, she fled as soon as she came of age in the magical world. Her disposition is undeniably cheerful, as there are few people who can resist smiling or even a simple grin in her glowing presence. She is aligned with the Gaia Affinity, one that is known for both its destructive and calming abilities.
Base Stats:
(Defender)
HP: 200
ATK: 7
DEF: 11
MDEF: 10
SPD: 8
Dominic Grant
"Obviously you've never heard of me, if you did, you would be scared out of your wits!"
If there is something missing, Dom took it, if there is a charred stain of ink in the school lobby, Dom did it, pretty much any heinous act or loser beaten to a pulp, Dom did it. His fight record isn't perfect, but it isn't anything to cough at. His detention record is even longer. While one would normally think such a destructive individual could never make friends, he made an unlikely one: The student who helps the nurse. His frequent visits gave him plenty of time to make friends with her and learn that maybe, some people don't need the snot beaten out of them. Of course, that doesn't make his fights any less fun.
Base Stats:
(Melee)
HP: 200
ATK: 9
DEF: 9
MDEF: 7
SPD: 9
Christa Te'Kras
"Just because I can help you, doesn't mean you can try to killed every day!"
Christa's family has always been known for one good thing: healing. The Te'Kras family were famous clerics, and it was no small event when their most recent child decided to enroll in Templar High. A student who regularly does business in the school's infirmary, she is an expert in both inflicting and restoring wounds thanks to her Proton Affinity. Contrary to what her cold, indifferent exterior, hardened by years of neglect, may suggest, she possesses a personality of both empathy and compassion.
Base Stats:
(Caster)
HP: 200
ATK: 7
DEF: 6
MDEF: 11
SPD: 10
Tina Leause
"Maybe you need a time-out!"
A boisterous, quirky little girl who boasts an amazing height of 4'11'' (she's tall, just leave her alone). Her inordinate skill in magic is completely unprecedented by most enemies, easily allowing her to obliterate the opposition with her powerful spells. Unlike the majority of the school's Students, Tina voluntarily decided to enroll in Templar High, trying to see how much of a difference she actually could make. Her Affinity clearly matches her disposition: Flare. Don't insult her height, or she'll kill you.
Base Stats:
(Caster)
HP: 200
ATK: 7
DEF: 6
MDEF: 11
SPD: 10
Matthias Kaishin
"This is gonna sting REAL bad!"
Eccentric and absolutely unpredictable, Matthias has always been known around Templar High as the school's prankster. Using his mastery of the Frost Affinity to freeze toilets and pull off other annoying pranks, he also is never at a lack of words to say. There are few who can touch him in battle, yet he will always find his mark upon the most vulnerable point on his enemy. Like Tina, he too entered Templar High's enrollment on his own volition, although his initial intentions are unknown.
Base Stats:
(Dasher)
ATK: 8
DEF: 7
MDEF: 7
SPD: 11
Jason Corona
"You think you can even touch me?!"
A braggart that can only be described in one simple term: troll. Cocky and arrogant due to his Axiom status, Jason cares little for those below him (which is, in fact, everyone). Hates the Protagonist, because of his alignment with the Axiom Affinity. Not much is known about him, and his boasting makes him a much hated, yet quite popular figure among school society.
Base Stats:
(???)
HP: ???
ATK: ???
DEF: ???
MDEF: ???
SPD: ???
Kazuma Ichida
"This is my story!
A foreign exchange student from the land he calls "The Apex of the Moon" (What used to be a very popular eastern country, before the world's boundaries fell). His intentions, demeanor, and past are all shrouded in the same mystery that both wards off people, and attracts them. He is also the only student to have yet to register their affinity with the Institute.
Base Stats:
(???)
HP: ???
ATK: ???
DEF: ???
MDEF: ???
SPD: ???
